Soulful yoga will anchor each day. Luxury villa accommodations, nature excursions, optional spa services, and shopping time will round out our days on retreat here in beautiful Oaxaca.
An unique yoga retreat to celebrate Mexican cuisine, the wonders of nature, art & expression and the incredible tradition of Dia de los Muertos in Oaxaca, Mexico, the heart of the Day of the Dead celebration. Soulful yoga will anchor each day.
Our retreat will embrace the festivities that unfold over the three days of the holiday, October 31, November 1 & 2, in an explosion of color and life-affirming joy. During this time we will create our own alter for loved ones lost, we will each have the chance for face paintings Catrina-style to head out into the town to celebrate with the locals in parades, parties, song and dance.
Oaxaca is the home of Mexico’s most amazing cuisine. We will explore the food markets, agave fields, experience a cooking class, taste mezcales and be pampered by our own private chef and mixologist right in our own luxury villa.

Meet Sam Jimenez
Sam is the perfect combination of culinary & mixology magic with the palate of a child born in Mexico City yet raised in the Hudson Valley, NY surrounded by some of the best culinary minds and tables in the US.
After graduating with a degree in Hospitality Management he continued to study in the Food & Beverage industry at the Culinary Institute of America and worked for the next 20 years between the US and Mexico in the biz from kitchen, to bar to front of house. His focus is now on Oaxaca’s gem, mezcal.
Mezcal
Ready to settle down back in his native land, Sam decided to call the Caribbean of Tulum, Mexico his new home. While managing a high-end hotel on the beach he met his match with the artisanal mezcal genius that is Gracias a Dios and hasn’t looked back.
From becoming the international voice for the company to mixing unique cocktails with their incredible varieties of mezcal and gin (you heard that right, an agave GIN!) he is excited to be joining us on his turf in Oaxaca to create a few meals for us to enjoy and mix up the cocktails when it’s time for happy hour and Catrina face painting before the Day of the Dead festivities.
Also he will trail-blaze us through the markets introducing us to local ingredients, encouraging us to try chapulines (uhhh those are grasshoppers!) and in general just being an awesome guy.
We are thrilled for this amazing collaboration and looking forward to exploring Oaxaca together. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity!
